Real-time ER wait times for Canadians
As heard on CBC Information Morning (April 2026).
ERstat pulls emergency room wait time data from official Canadian health authority sources and puts it in one free, easy-to-use platform. Instead of calling around or driving to an ER only to find a four-hour wait, you can check current conditions before you leave home.
Wait times come directly from provincial health systems and update as frequently as every two minutes depending on the province. No ads. No account required.
Nova Scotia – Predicted wait times from NS Health, including confidence ranges, 12-hour forecasts, and closure alerts. Updated hourly.
Quebec – Hourly data from the Console provinciale des urgences (CPU) covering wait times, stretcher occupancy, and patient counts for the majority of Quebec ERs.
British Columbia – Wait times and expected length of stay from BC EdWaitTimes, covering Vancouver Coastal Health, Fraser Health, and Providence Health Care facilities. Updated every 5 minutes.
Alberta – Live estimated wait times from Alberta Health Services, covering Calgary, Edmonton, and several other cities. Updated every 2 minutes.
New Brunswick – Visit length ranges from Horizon Health and Vitalité Health, updated hourly.
Ontario – Wait time data assembled from individual hospital systems including Oculys, Hamilton Health Sciences, Lakeridge Health, London Health Sciences, Halton Healthcare, University Health Network, William Osler, and Trillium Health Partners. About 50 hospitals and growing.

If you work in an emergency department, ERstat offers a free portal that lets your team post closure notices, update ER status, and publish accurate hours directly to patients searching for care.
ERstat provides wait time estimates for informational purposes only. This is not medical advice. Wait times are estimates and actual conditions may vary.
Emergency departments use triage. Patients with more serious conditions are always seen first, regardless of arrival time or displayed wait.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 immediately.
